Arrrrr!!! It’s International Talk Like A Pirate Day!!!

My pirate name is:
Bloody Bess Kidd

Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it’s the open sea. For others (the masochists), it’s the food. For you, it’s definitely the fighting. Even though you’re not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!

I signed up earlier this month for the Autumn Sock or Scarf Swap 2008A.S.S.S 2008 for short. All packages need to be shipped by October 15. I have my partner’s info and have begun shopping. Still have a few more things to get in the next week or so.

I also finished the first of many cowls I will be making for the next season. The pattern uses a shield stitch pattern, I like how it turned out.

She sent me this beautiful yarn she dyed for me and the picture that inspired it. Not only that, she sent me New Pathways for Sock Knitters by Cat Bhordi and some Ghirardelli Chocolate. I can’t wait to find the perfect pattern to make myself a pair of socks. Thanks so much Kristie.

I received to packages today in the mail. The first is from my Handmade Washcloth and Soap Swap Partner. Look what I got:

Handmade Washcloth and Soap Package

I love the washcloth, its very pretty, a feather and fan pattern, an ice cream pint cozy and a bar of Emelmahae Lemon with Chamomile Tea soap. The soap smells sooooooo good!!! Thanks Tawni. She included a business card from them, I will definitely be checking them out and buying more soaps.

I also received 2 fabric prints I ordered for a new project bag. Its not like I need any more bags but what can I say, I’m a bag whore, lol.

New Fabrics

I finally managed to get the koolhaas knitting under control and have completed the chart 3 times, 2 more and I can start the decreases and finish this thing. I could have used a beer or two to knit this hat maybe I wouldn’t have screwd up so much.

Koolhaas Hat

Limping Along

I started my hat on sunday after work because I had to work a very long day on saturday. This is what it looked liked then:

Koolhaas 1

And this is what it looked like earlier today:

Koolhaas 1

Notice any difference? No? That would be because I have had to rip this sucker back 3 times!! 3 F***ing times!! WTF??!!!  No matter how many times I think I got it right , I find something wrong. I refuse to give up!! I will get this done!  ETA: So far I have the first 8 rows of the chart done. No pics because its raining and there is no light to take any good pictures.

I’ve also started my socks, these are going well, finally something working out right and not driving me nuts. An inch or so more and I start the heel.

I also mailed out my swap partners packages. I heard from my Handnade Washcloth & Soap swap recipient, she got hers today and she liked it. I’m glad she liked it, it was fun choosing the yarn and  pattern, I also sent her some sweets. My Hand Dyed Yarn Swap recipient should be getting hers in a day or so. So now I can post a pic of the washcloth I made for her:

Not only am I participating in the Hand Dyed Yarn Swap , I also signed up for the Handmade Washcloth and Soap Swap on Ravelry but I also signed up today for Mystery Stole 4. I have my partner’s yarn ready to dye this weekend and hopefully mailed out by the end of the next week. For the dishcloth and soap swap, i’ve already ordered some soaps and I have the yarn, I just have to find a pattern and get everything mailed out before August 15th.

I made a dishcloth for myself the other day, it was pretty easy except for the seaming, it turn out great but i must have seamed and ripped that thing about ten times before I got it right.

I finally finished sock 1 and have started on sock 2. The pattern is easy but it stretches alot especially on the diagonal but straightens out when done. I had to go done one size because of the stretch and it fits mom great.
